Director, Project Management ERP – FINLAND

Project Director (PD) works directly with the project and programme managers (PM) of her/his group in order to ensure that PMs are empowered to meet or exceed customers expectation. S/he promotes disciplined project management and improves project management maturity. The PD will create an environment of development and growth for the PMs which results in on time and within the budget project execution generating revenue growth and profit with commitment to delivering high quality solutions and excellent customer service. This requires applying leadership and changing the mind-set of the PMs to treat and manage their projects as a business and make sure that the business is run efficiently and profitably. PD will provide project sponsorship.

Main Responsibilities

  • Reach their personal utilisation targets manage assigned programmes/projects using my clients methodology efficiently and profitably
  • Fully understand the need to manage their workload efficiently
  • Understand or have an appreciation of the business of their client and specific industry verticals
  • Identify opportunities in the programmes and projects
  • Ensure project/programme margin is maintained in line with the initial bid
  • Accelerate backlog and assist in selling the bench, when appropriate
  • Become proficient in the new methodology and tools and apply them in their projects
  • Prepare client facing status reports
  • Establish and achieve their professional certification level
  • Ensure project data submitted for monthly Dashboards reporting is on time and accurate
  • Achieve financial and non-financial performance measures and objectives set by PM country lead
  • Monitor project KPIs
  • Ensure project go lives reports are submitted

PD will collaborate with

  • (Industry Leaders) to ensure that projects are not escalated and act as preventative agents to ensure projects stay healthy from inception
  • (Industry Leaders) to provide assistance in resolving issues when/if projects are escalated i.e. problem projects
  • (Industry Leaders) to ensure forecast submission of team is accurate and on time meeting deadlines
  • To assign PMs to projects based on their experience and capability
  • Assign PM to support deal crafting and assisting in creation of SOWs and contracts
  • Support deal crafting and assisting in creation of SOWs and contracts on large programmes and projects
  • Ensure Operations policy and process compliance is maintained at all times
  • Lead adoption and compliance for processes and tools
  • Highlight projects that require support from PMO or other Depts.
  • Work collaboratively within the global PMO for project QA and audits
  • Provide feedback/suggestions on improvements to tools, methods, processes and training

PD defines Professional Development Plan for PMs

  • Define individual professional development plans for PMs
  • Define individual training plans for the PMs, to increase PMs knowledge in specific verticals
  • Conduct appraisal and performance management process for individual PMs, define and manage MBOs
  • Manage internal corporate communications to PMs
  • Provide guidance and coach project managers regularly
  • Actively participate and lead group sessions & meetings in the PM community calls

PD will perform Admin and Recruitment as and when required

  • Responsible for the handling of holiday bookings / expenses / etc. of project managers
  • Engage in recruitment & interviewing process when required
  • Be able to run various reports in the system and be able to produce meaningful data

Required Skills

  • BSc or higher degree
  • Successful project/programme management track record for full life cycle software implementation projects with value of $2m.-25m.
  • Experience of engagement management and programme management
  • Strong leadership skills to provide direction to the team and Dept.
  • Ability to balance both strategic and tactical thinking
  • Experience of and ability to manage and coach project managers
  • Experience of project portfolio management and analysis
  • Experience of and ability to sponsor projects and provide advice to focus on value & success
  • Result oriented and ability to motivate PMs to achieve results
  • Customer focused
  • Ability to conduct quality reviews and provide sound advice and clear direction
  • Ability to develop and implement assigned initiatives e.g. bid preparation, training and methodology

Ability to formulate successful strategies to resolve problems and issues in projects/programmes in your group i.e. turn around and escalation assistance
